After some uncertain days as to when they baby was due to arrive, he finally arrived on 20th July at 5am!! We had been at the hospital for most of that week, including the day he was born, but were not aware that my daughter would go into labour after we left the hospital on that rainy day!! Pre- birth my daughter had been getting a high blood pressure, and she was prescribed tablets to bring it back down to safe levels. However, a few days after the birth she had to rush back to hospital as her blood pressure was up again, which meant that his parents and us (hubby and I) had to look after the new born that day, and they did not get back till 11.30pm!! (His parents had a planned holiday for the next day so we did 3 shifts including the late shift with the baby and they did two in between for that day). They were on their way back around 10-11pm

When they got back they were a little shaken up as there was an incident with large slow moving vehicle, carrying a large load, on a blind bend in front of them, and a large truck on the other side of the road.....they had to do an emergency stop at short notice!!! Thankfully they did manage to stop and did not get hurt!! They were shaken up! Their thoughts at the time were that if they had not stopped in time, they may not have survived to see their new born son grow up. So they took it easy for the last of the journey home and were so relieved to get back home after a long day in the hospital waiting around, and the trauma of the journey home. We only found out as they were telling us about the hospital visit before mentioning the near miss!

Baby Thomas, (6lb 13oz), is fine and so he is adorable. We had loads of cuddles that day and a very messy nappy change! We are off to see him and the rest of the family again today and tomorrow! I'll add a photo later as I need to get ready to go out.

Awwwwwwwww!!!

That sounds pretty traumatic, but I’m so happy it was a happy trauma.

Congratulations on the little one!
